Cartiera Binda – Culture Island: The island of the paper factory is an ambitious project putting together the cultural value and the great geographic and environmental position. The Vaprio area is highly accessible, thus allowing the visitors to appreciate the unique and exceptional peculiarities of the area, and to experience a new lifestyle. This is indeed a cultural project: to work and live in a smart community sharing the respect for local resources and a moral code. In the island project there is a reference financial and environmental code, stating the energetic self-sustainability, the CO2 levels and the maximum water consumption allowed. It is also possible to develop commercial activities to give new life to the traditional “casa bottega” (working and living blended together) and encourage to build the net of local social connections. On the island only bikes and pedestrians will be allowed: there will be bike parking spots at every entrance, while the parking spots for the cars of the residents will be located in a dedicated area, easily accessible and within short walking distance. A new, alternative and more authentic lifestyle.
